Awaken Academy is dedicated to Education through Adventure. We understand that all children have unique ways in which they learn best. Awaken Academy is on a mission to help children who struggle with learning in a traditional classroom setting. Our approach to learning is unique in that it combines classroom instruction with practical, hands-on experiences in order to stimulate cognitive reception, brain development and enjoyment of the instructional process.
Through various venues, including, but not limited to, raising chickens, our program encourages logical and sequential thinking, random evaluation, analysis and synthesis, behavior responsibility, and other necessary skills for cognitive and social success. Other examples of our plan to implement these strategies may include:
- Cognitive Therapy with a professional counselor
- Horse boarding and Horse Therapy
- Involvement in school-sustained business ventures
- Community service projects
- Small classroom sizes
- Higher instructor-to-student ratios
- Project themed and hands-on learning
- Implementation of Feuerstein Instrumental Enrichment
- Exposure to agriculture, mechanics, woodworking and culinary arts
- Emphasis on music and fine arts
- Certified teachers with specialties in math, literacy, and learning
disabilities
- Expose children to many skills and trades to recognize and grow
their individual gifts
- Internships and apprenticeships with local tradesmen
Our Capital Campaign is focused on delivering a new facility that perfectly combines the necessity for hands-on learning and adventure with the imperatives for successful learning in every student's unique learning style. Architectural plans and renderings are in the works and will be available for viewing shortly.
We need your help in many areas. We know you know somebody. Help spread the word as we build the facility, the faculty and staff and the culture of Awaken Academy.
